Situated on the River Severn, Bewdley became a prosperous port for the river traders. It was a gateway for the industries in the Black Country to trade with towns in Gloucestershire and Bristol.
Bewdley is now a conservation town retaining many of its old buildings and offers a variety of shops, restaurants and pubs.
Floody good start – despite the high and muddy river conditions the Severn has produced some very good barbel catches during the opening week. The extra water has put them on the feed and one angler reported twelve fish in five hours! In the coloured water big and/or smelly baits should work well. |
